We are here to help.

We all want what’s best for our family.

Unfortunately, we don’t always have the tools to know how to navigate our own emotions or the behaviors and emotions of our most precious people.

Inside Passage Relationship Counseling can help. Therapists in our collective compassionately work with families to gain the skills and tools they need to regulate emotion, change patterns of thinking, process and heal from past events, develop healthier relationships with one another, and explore potential strategies for navigating  life’s challenges.

We successfully help
families with:

  • Trauma

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Communication

  • Death or Grief

  • Illness

  • Emotional Regulation

  • Life Transitions

  • Adjusting to divorce

  • Social Challenges

  • Gender Identity

  • Attachment issues

  • Behavior Challenges

What is

Family Therapy?

Before we can understand what Family Therapy is, we might first want to define what we mean when we say “family”. At Inside Passage Counseling, a family can be defined as a group of loved ones who share, or long to share, connection. That group may consist of parents, children, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even caregivers.

Based on brief, solution-focused, attainable goals, Family Therapy is a form of group psychotherapy, or talk therapy, that focuses on processing and healing past traumas, resolving family conflicts, understanding habits and patterns of relating, and improving both the relationships and behaviors within the entire family system.

Our Therapy Methods

Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)

Emotionally Focused Family Therapy follows the principles and practices of Emotionally Focused Therapy in order to restore connection and promote resilience in family relationships.

The principle goal of EFFT is to re-establish more secure family patterns where attachment and caregiving responses are effective and emotional bonds are repaired.

These resources inform a network of security that provides the flexibility and closeness necessary for families to promote individual growth and meaningful relationships across generations.

Hand in Hand Parenting

The Hand in Hand Parenting approach, helps families build a stronger parent-child connection. This strong emotional bond is the hallmark of happy, well-adjusted families. It’s also the soundest way to a better society.

Recent research shows that regardless of background, a close parent-child connection throughout childhood and beyond is the strongest factor in preventing a variety of health and social problems, including young people’s involvement in drugs, violence, and unintended pregnancies.

Deeply listening to a child in distress greatly increases the child’s sense of safety and connection. There’s simply no better way to handle emotional moments. As rewarding as it is, parenting this way requires internal resources. That’s why Hand in Hand has such a strong focus on empowering parents.
