Questions About Our Methods

At Inside Passage, our therapists are trained in evidence-based and trauma-informed therapy methods. While our therapists have different focuses and levels of training, our counseling center specializes in gold standard therapy models such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and providing individual and couples therapy intensives. In fact, our therapists receive ongoing training and supervision in these therapy methods so that they can provide a high level of quality and skill for every client.

We care about providing hope and help for all clients. Our therapists meet our high standards for clinical care and are passionate, dedicated, and inclusive clinicians. The counselors on our team are licensed professionals with different levels of post-graduate training:

Associate therapists are licensed to practice psychotherapy under supervision. These therapists receive ongoing supervision and training from our expert clinical directors.

Fully licensed therapists are independently licensed and participate in ongoing clinical consultation and training at Inside Passage.

All of our therapists receive specific training in IFS, EMDR, and/or couple’s therapy.

At Inside Passage, we are proud to offer both traditional weekly therapy as well as 2 or 3-day therapy intensives. Therapy works well in both ways.

Weekly therapy: Is generally held once per week for 50 minutes and is effective for helping individuals and couples build steady momentum and make progress toward their goals. Traditional therapy works best when clients dedicate an hour per week to therapy, especially during the first 6-12 weeks. Your therapist will work with you to determine when it’s a good time to reduce the frequency of sessions and celebrate your accomplishments with you.

Therapy intensives: We also offer IFS intensives for individuals, as well as EFT couples therapy intensives. Intensive therapy is an immersive experience for one individual or couple at a time to receive the equivalent of 3-6 months of therapy within 2 to 3 days. Intensives are a private retreat, customized to help individuals and couples reach their unique healing goals quickly. The healing effects can be profound, and follow-up therapy may be indicated. Your intensive therapist will help you create a success plan for after the intensive is finished.

Our rates for 50-minute individual and couple’s therapy sessions range from $160-$215, depending on the provider. 80-minute sessions are available upon request and cost 1.5 times the 50-minute amount. Please inquire about rates for individual and couple’s therapy intensives.

Your scheduled time is reserved just for you. If you need to cancel your session, we kindly ask that you notify us at least 48 hours before your appointment so there is time for that opening to be filled by another client. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged the therapist’s full rate for the session. As a courtesy, you can always reschedule to another time within the same week and apply that session charge.

For individual therapy: We are out-of-network with all insurances at this time. This means that payment is due at the time of service and we can submit superbills on your behalf for your insurance to send reimbursement directly to you (depending on your insurance plan). We are also happy to check your out-of-network benefits for you!

For couples and family therapy: This is a private pay service only. In couples and family counseling, we identify all members of the relationship jointly as our client. We do not identify an individual client with a mental health disorder diagnosis. This means that our couples and family counseling services are not considered to be “Medically Necessary” by insurance companies and are not covered by insurance.

For therapy intensives: IFS individual therapy intensives and EFT couples therapy intensives are private pay only and are not covered by insurance.

We always start with an initial session. Over the years, we’ve learned that a full 50-minute therapy session works best to figure out if you and your therapist click. During your initial session, you can share why you’re seeking help, hear how your therapist plans to assist, and make sure it feels like a good fit for everyone moving forward. While the initial session does cost the full rate, think of it as an important investment in making sure you’re on the right path for your therapeutic journey.

After the initial session, if both you and the therapist decide it’s a fit to continue working together, we schedule recurring sessions for the same day and time, securing a dedicated ‘time slot’ on your therapist’s schedule. This not only streamlines the scheduling process, sparing you from the effort of constant rescheduling, but it also ensures consistency and prioritizes your continuity of care by reserving a specific time for your sessions. If for some reason your schedule does not allow for this way of booking, we can also help you schedule in another way.
