Sam is a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate in Washington State with a Master’s degree Psychology and seven years of experience working with couples and individuals. He is currently completing his PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech, where he focuses on helping individuals with concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, sexuality, as well as couples struggling with disconnection, communication, blending families, and rebuilding trust after infidelity and betrayal. Sam specializes in working with LGBTQ+ individuals and LGBTQ+ and queer relationships, and clients in monogamous relationships, as well as polyamorous and ethical non-monogamous relationships. With foundational training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, and Attachment Focused Family Therapy, Sam brings a systems-informed and socially conscious perspective to his work. Whether couples are feeling like they can’t address anything without fighting, losing hope, or feeling alone, or individuals are struggling with anxiety, depression or trauma, Sam helps clients explore deeper meanings, emotions, and patterns/cycles in relationships and pushes clients to meet the goals they have set. Clients can expect to feel heard, validated, cared-for, and challenged.
